Welcome to the '''Wiki Staff Conduct''' page! This page is for all staff members, new and existing to adhere to. All staff members are required to read this page. Failure to comply with the Wiki Staff Conduct will result in a warning, partial or full demotion, or a block.

== Staff roles ==
Each staff member has designated roles and permissions to keep the wiki and community in check.

=== Moderator ===
Moderators are part of a group of wiki staff named the moderation team. There are two types of moderators.

Content moderators assume the role of maintaining and checking quality of all pages according to the [[Glagglepedia Wiki:Wiki rules|wiki rules]] and report users of inappropriate edits to administrators. Content moderators have these permissions:

* Delete pages, review deleted pages and undelete pages.
* Lock and unlock pages to users for a set amount of time.
* Move protected pages.
* Rollback edits of a user, which quickly reverts to the second last user’s contribution without confirmation.
* Delete, undelete, lock, unlock and edit message wall threads.

Thread moderators assume the rule of maintaining the civil nature of the community in discussions, comments, talk pages and blog posts in accordance to the wiki rules and issue warnings of inappropriate behavior. Thread moderators have these permissions:

* Delete and undelete posts, replies, blog posts and comments.
* Lock and unlock posts, blog posts and comments.
* Edit posts, replies, blog posts and comments.
* Move discussion posts to other categories.
* Issue warnings to users.

As part of the moderation team, all moderators review reports and suggestions, in which they are turned over to the lead moderator.

=== Lead moderator ===
The lead moderator is the head of the moderation team, in which they turn in and discuss reports and suggestions to administrators. The lead moderator also enforces standards for the whole of the moderation team. There is only one lead moderator. The lead moderator has these permissions:

* Permissions for thread and content moderator. (see above)

=== Administrator ===
Administrators are part of a group named the administration team. Administrators manage the wiki and host wiki-wide events. Administrators have these permissions:

* Permissions for lead moderator. (see above)
* Host and manage events, such as elections and game-based events.
* Access to the administrator dashboard.
* Change the wiki theme. (not allowed for use)
* Edit whitelisted MediaWiki pages.
* Grant thread moderator and rollback to users. (Should only be done for elections!)
* Block users from editing among other actions.

=== Bureaucrat ===
The bureaucrat, sometimes referred to as the owner, is the head of the administration team and the wiki as a whole. The bureaucrat has these permissions:

* Permissions for administrator. (see above)
* Grant content moderator (for elections), administrator and bureaucrat to users.

== Becoming wiki staff ==
Many people are willing a staff member, and you might consider being one! To become wiki staff, the following requirements must be met:

* The user must be active for the past two months.
* The user must not have been blocked for at least twice, except if these blocks are unjust.
* The user has not been considered controversial. This is in the discretion of the community and/or wiki staff.
* Have at least 750 edits, if willing to become a content moderator.
* Have at least 250 posts, if willing to become a thread moderator.

=== Applying ===
If you meet all of these requirements, you can go to a message wall of an administrator and apply to be a candidate for an upcoming election. While applying, you must answer four questions:

* Why are you willing to be a staff member?
* Do you want to be a content moderator or thread moderator?
* Any past moderation experience? If none, skip this question.
* Describe how active you are.

Not all users are guaranteed to have their applications accepted, as admins can reject applications, but in the chance that their application gets accepted, they will be likely to appear in the moderator elections. Any user who uses sockpuppets or meatpuppets (new users invited by someone to influence something) to influence elections will be banned from applying for wiki staff for a year and possibly face a direct block.

=== Moderator Elections ===

Three months after the last lead moderator election, admins will hold an election, which will elect one content moderator and one thread moderator. Each election will use ranked voting, in which voters list their candidates based on their preferences. The election will last for three days, in which afterwards, each voters' preferences for each candidate will be averaged, as displayed by a bar graph, as shown on the side. The candidate with the highest average preferability will receive their role of choice. The new moderators will be introduced by administrators, which includes a link to the Wiki Staff Conduct.

=== Lead Moderator Elections ===
Six months after the last lead moderator election, admins will hold another election, which will elect a new lead moderator. Like moderator elections, it will use ranked voting. The candidates consist of members of the moderation team. The election will last for three days, in which afterwards, the candidate with the highest average preferability will become the new lead moderator. The previous lead moderator will have their role before they have become lead moderator. (e.g. A lead moderator that was a thread moderator will become thread moderator once their term ends).

=== Adminship ===
The administration team consists of three admins, one of them being the bureaucrat. If an admin retires, or is inactive for a period of time, the bureaucrat will choose a moderator that the bureaucrat sees as the best fit for administrator.

== Role switching ==
Moderators can switch their roles, such as a content moderator becoming a thread moderator and vice versa. For a moderator to switch their roles, they can apply to an administrator regarding their role switch. However, they must meet the prerequisite of the role they are switching to. For example, if a thread moderator wants to become a content moderator, they must have at least 750 edits, the prerequisite for new content moderators. They can only do this one month after their last role switch or their election, in which they can switch their roles after their cooldown has passed.

== Blocks and warns ==
Thread moderators, the lead moderator and administrators can give warnings for violations of trivial rules in their message wall. The title of the post should include the rule the user violated. The content of the warning should describe why the user got warned, but it is more detailed than simply the rule the user violated. It should also include a link or a screenshot to the content of the user breaking the rule, to resolve disputes that may arise. It must link to the wiki rules, to remind the user about the rules in the case they have not read the rules, forgot about a rule, or for some other reason.

If the user violates a rule after they have gotten two warnings, the user must be blocked with the combined length of the rules violated. The block must have a reason, which should be their warnings and the rule violation after their warnings. Once their block expires, their warning count is reset. Not all rules guarantee a warning, as some rules will constitute a direct block, regardless if the number of times they have been warned. == Use of power ==
The use of each roles' powers are important to keeping the wiki safe and enjoyable, but they should never be used to threaten the wiki or to only benefit the ones with the power, such as deleting posts talking negatively about them. Their powers are useful and should not be left unused.

=== Inactivity ===
If a staff member has not made any significant contributions within two months, they will be fully demoted and will be notified of it in their message wall. What is considered a significant contribution is solely of the discretion of wiki staff.

=== Abuse of power ===
If a staff member is using their powers in bad faith, such as to threaten the wiki or to undermine the community, they will be fully demoted and directly blocked for three months.
